So I Haven’t Posted in a While, Here’s Why.

So I haven’t posted in a while. I’m sorry but sometimes life throws you curveballs and you gotta deal.

My curveball in this case has been transforming an idea I dreamt up over a year ago- The College Blog Network, into something much more mainstream. It’s a project that has taken 7months and 4 people to complete and the end is near! This post isn’t so much about what the new site- CollegeBlender, will be, but more of an outreach to my friends to help build awareness of this new brand.

We want to give college students a stage- to show off their skills. We believe there is some amazing stuff happening at the college level, from blogs to videos to music and much much more, and we think it deserves some recognition. That is what CollegeBlender is all about. I can’t speak about it too much right now but it is launching in August 2009, and you can check out the site for a few more details here. Please show support for our mission by following collegeblender on twitter and becoming a “fan” (we don’t like that term) of our page on Facebook.

The site will be live in August! At which point I will be posting the much needed updates to my code and other goings on here! On my personal blog!

Thanks again!
Dan

To Everyone Looking for Source Code!

Hey everyone! I have been really really busy lately, and thus haven’t had the time I usually do to post here and respond to requests. I know there are quite a few of you waiting for me to release source code to some of my projects. I will gladly release it- I just need time to get it all together, upload, link, describe, etc. Since I’m so busy working on v2 of tcbn (the college blog network) I haven’t had time to site down and get that all up on the site. It’s looking like I will have it up sometime in May, sorry to make everyone wait, but I wanted to let you know, I WILL be posting it!

In the meantime you can checkout my code snippets on snipt.org. Until them just hold on tight, I’ll still be making my usual random posts here but the source-code related stuff won’t be up til sometime in May. I’ll also be posting some other cool stuff I haven’t had time for around then as well. Thanks for your patience everyone, I really appreciate it!

TCBN Wants your Feedback!

The College Blog Network is changing, and they want their users to influence these changes. In an effort to tap into their users needs TCBN has opened a feedback system to gauge what features users want the most. Are you a TCBN user? Got an idea? Head to their feedback site to have your voice heard!

College Blog Network Poster for ImagineRIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival

College Blogs Poster

Lately I’ve been buried in work relating to my ever-closer graduation but somehow I managed to squeeze out this poster for the booth I was running at RIT’s first Innovation and Creativity Festival. While the audience wasn’t exactly the TCBN target demographic it was still good to just get out and spread the word about the College Blog Network. I literally whipped this up in about 3hrs late late the night before the festival. Not my best work but it printed very nicely and I think it conveys the idea behind TCBN well.

Although I haven’t been able to do much work on TCBN the past month because of school, after graduation there are some huge new features I plan on adding. Just counting the days til I’m out of school and can actually have some real time to dedicate to this project.
